Fire victims couldn't escape due to blocked exit

New CCTV analysis has revealed further critical and tragic details in the New Year’s Eve fire at the Constellation bar in Crans-Montana that killed 41 people.

Police say some customers in the basement delayed their escape to retrieve jackets from a back room, losing vital seconds.

Footage also shows people twice passed a nearby emergency exit because it  was blocked.

Within moments, dense smoke filled the basement, before a flashover engulfed the space.

Most victims were trapped below or on the crowded staircase as they tried to escape.
