F-35 bill soars and planes will be out of date

F 35 fighter

The F-35 scandal continues – and could get worse.

Switzerland has ordered 36 of the fighter jets from the United States and it’s thought that, under the contract it signed, it will have to pay an additional billion dollars on top of the 6 billion it has agreed to pay.

Also, the missiles will be out of date when the first planes are delivered as will the engine, as the original is prone to failure. That will be an additional expense.

Many critics also complain that choosing to buy US jets over European alternatives means Switzerland is reliant on the US for defence.
