A drunk driver who killed a student on the Collex Bossey road in Geneva has been convicted of murder and will serve 6 and a half years in jail.
The defence was calling for the man to be charged with then lesser negligent homicide.
Judges disagreed, noting the man was speeding as well as being impaired. They said the incident was an ‘absolute tragedy.’
As the man is a Polish national – he will be deported at the end of his sentence and banned from entering Switzerland for 10 years.
