Drugs bust in Verbier

A major police operation in the ski resort of Verbier has led to the arrest of 15 suspected drug dealers and the confiscation of a large quantity of drugs - including 10 kilos of cocaine.

Locals told the press they’re not surprised as drug use amongst tourists is high.

The local anti-drug use group, Addiction Valais, says they’re seeing more people – mainly seasonal workers – come to them for help when they find themselves in a difficult situation.

Many seasonal workers are also involved in the sale of the drugs, according to volunteers.

The operation involved forces from cantons Vaud and Neuchatel as well as French authorities.
