Driver jailed for ramming camera

Stapo Winterthur

A driver is going to jail after he deliberately rammed a speed camera which had flashed him at nearly 100 kph in a 40 zone.

In November 2019 the man admitted to have been drinking and he says he’d also taken an anti-anxiety drug.

After the camera flashed, he turned and then rammed it. The damage is estimated at CHF 100,000.

He told the Winterthur court he’s ashamed of his actions.

Destroying the camera didn’t help him not being identified. Police were able to retrieve the pictures.

He will be going to jail for 6 months and with another 16 months suspended.
