A German tourist has been sentenced in Switzerland after being caught using a falsified autoroute vignette.
The 26-year-old was stopped at a border crossing, in canton of St Gallen, in May last year.
Instead of sticking the vignette directly onto his BMW’s windscreen, he placed a transparent film underneath so it could be removed and reused - a method that is illegal, as each sticker is valid for only one vehicle.
He has been convicted of counterfeiting and handed a suspended fine of CHF 1,400 along with a CHF 700 in fines and costs.
