Firefighters from Geneva, France and CERN joined forces to battle crop fires in Meyrin yesterday afternoon.
It took nearly an hour to bring the blaze under control – around 5 hectares were destroyed.
The fire spread quickly due to the wind.
A spokesman for the Geneva teams says they had eight engines on site, the French brought specialist equipment and CERN dispatched one of its pumps.
In all around 50 firefighters were on site.
