Green Party president Lisa Mazzone has accused the Federal Council of doing nothing on climate after Switzerland's hottest summer on record
The Genevoise politician said the government has left people to fend for themselves during heatwaves rather than acting on water management or protecting outdoor workers.
Mazzone blames the influence of fossil fuel, car and nuclear lobbies at the Federal Palace, singling out Environment Minister Albert Rösti.
Parliament opensed its autumn session yesterday with an urgent debate on the summer's drought and heat.
Climate protests are planned across Switzerland on 19 September.
