The Foreign Minister, Ignazio Cassis, has pulled out of an event at the University of Fribourg after pro-Palestinian students called for a demonstration aimed at disrupting the event.
Cassis was due to meet his counterpart from Slovakia, Juraj Blanàr, for a discussion about polarized politics.
Officials decided the safety of the two politicians couldn’t be assured.
The university says it’s surprised at the decision as the semester has gone smoothly so far – but demonstrators did occupy part of the building in May.
