Should speed cameras be removed during roadworks?
As construction continues between Luterbach and Härkingen to widen the country’s busiest route, the Young Liberals are demanding the removal of mobile radar checks in the work zone.
They argue that with lower temporary limits already in place, the cameras are unnecessary and even dangerous, as they can trigger sudden braking and phantom traffic jams.
They also claim they’re being used solely to raise revenue.
But opponents say speed enforcement remains vital to protect workers and drivers alike, warning that without it, safety could take a back seat to convenience.
