Busy roads expected this weekend

It will be busy on the roads from tomorrow as many take advantage of the upcoming holiday.

There are also other public holidays in the next few weeks which are likely to put pressure on the transport system.

Tomorrow is Ascension and many are expected to ‘make the bridge’ and take Friday off.

The Federal Roads Office is predicting heavy traffic on major roads, especially through the Gotthard Tunnel.  But exact predictions are hard due to coronavirus restrictions and the uncertainty of the rules for heading into neighbouring countries.

There are other holidays due – Monday 24th May is Pentecost and many cantons will be off work on June 3rd for Corpus Christi.
