Busy border post to close for 2 days

The border post at Perly heading into Geneva will close later this morning for the next two days.

About 17,000 vehicles use the crossing every day – it’s likely most of the displaced traffic will be forced to use Bardonnex – increasing the pressure on that already busy crossing.

Those who use the bus to cross will have to get off and walk across to pick up another one on the other side.

The border needs to close while the old guard post and shelter is demolished in preparation of a new tram line.

The new line will run from Plan-les-Ouates to Saint-Julien. Work will start on that in September and will last for three years.
