A major water main bust on Saturday, rapidly flooding parts of Chêne-Bougeries.
The rising water caught police by surprise as one of their cars was soon stuck.
The rupture happened at the junction of Chemin de la Gradelle and Route de Vandœuvres, sending an extremely high volume of drinking water through the streets.
Despite the conditions, the flow was stopped in under an hour.
A few homes temporarily lost water service, but there were no injuries and no reported damage.
Officials say the water supply remained safe, and any discoloration should clear after running the tap.
The cause of the leak is still under investigation.
