The number of people claiming asylum is down.
In August, 2,214 people applied for asylum in Switzerland. That is practically the same number as in July.
But compared to August last year, the number of asylum applications has fallen by a good quarter, according to the State Secretariat for Migration.
Most applications came from people from Afghanistan. Other nationalities were Turkish, Algerian and Eritrean.
In the first eight months of this year, a total of 18,599 people applied for asylum in Switzerland.
