Another wolf spotted in Geneva

Wolf spotted in Jussy in 2021

It seems likely another wolf has been spotted in Geneva. An amateur bird water says he photographed the animal in Choulex.

Experts say it seems very likely it is a wolf – but to be 100% sure, they would need to find DNA evidence such as hair or droppings.

A wolf was last seen in the canton in December 2021 in the neighbouring commune of Jussy.

Luc Rebetez from the Cantonal Environment Office told RTS the wolf is probably from the Savoyard Massif and is probably traveling alone.

Wolves sometime leave their pack to find a new mate and form another pack.

It’s thought unlikely the animal would stay in the region as they need a large area to hunt.
