Annemasse municipal police attacked

Two Annemasse municipal officers have been attacked by a woman this week, in the latest incident to fuel concerns about violence in the cross-border town.

The victims are agents of the ASVP, the local public-space enforcement service.

The assault follows a violent car chase, in which a driver deliberately rammed a police car after refusing to stop.

A local elected official told Le Dauphiné there is "too much aggression in Annemasse", pointing to people "who think they can get away with anything."

The town is one of the main frontalier hubs for workers commuting daily into Geneva.
