Switzerland is bracing for severe weather as a powerful storm system approaches northern Europe.
While the bomb cyclone known as Goretti will not hit the country directly, meteorologists warn its wind field will bring strong gusts from tonight.
Winds of up to eighty kilometres an hour are expected on the Swiss Plateau, with hurricane-force gusts in exposed Alpine areas.
The storm will also push warmer air northwards, raising the snow line before colder conditions return later on Friday.
