Three men are on trial in Geneva for attempted murder after a vicious attack on a drunk man in the Old Town in May 2023.

The defendants, aged between 19 and 21, told the court it wasn’t their intention to kill the man.

Judges heard from the prosecution that it was only luck and the intervention of a passer-by that the man survived.

One of the defendants is still in pre-trial detention as he went to the victim’s home the next day and tried to extort money from his family. He’s facing additional charges.

There are three others involved – but they’re minors and have been handled by juvenile courts.
