Imany: Finding her voice and transcendental on-stage experiences

The Homerun

Thursday, 22 October 2026 - 9 minutes

With her unmistakably deep vocals and distinctive musical style, Imany has carved out a place of her own on the international music scene.

Ahead of her performance at Baloise Session in Basel, the French singer-songwriter had a chat with WRS Home Run presenter Katt Cullen reflecting on the creative journeys that have shaped her music, including Voodoo Cello. Inspired by a dream, the project saw her reimagine her songs with eight cellists, creating an experience she describes as life-changing. Watching audiences moved to tears, she discovered something beautiful alongside them - and learnt to trust her own instincts in musical composition.

Now, Imany is bringing her latest album, Women Deserve Rage, to the Baloise Session stage, alongside familiar hits like "Don't Be So Shy" which received international acclaim following a Filatov & Karas remix release. With horns replacing the cellos, her new material explores a compelling mix of anger and optimism.

Katt Cullen talks to Imany about musical discovery, authenticity and following the ideas that refuse to let go.
