Geneva has no shortage of memorable planting, from the carpet bedding in front of the Brunswick Monument to the roses of the Parc des Eaux-Vives and the chromatic perennials of the Jardin de la Paix. The best known, though, is the floral clock in the Jardin Anglais on the Quai du Général Guisan, and this year it has a new look.
Hester Macdonald speaks to Chiara La Rosa, a landscape architect with the City of Geneva, about her role in this iconic planting. It is a masterclass in modern carpet bedding, with every square centimetre carefully planned and regularly replanted so that the clock looks its best all year round, three-dimensional new appearance included.
