A woman has died after getting lost in the fog in the mountains in canton Valais.
The 74-year-old was walking near the Tête des Ottans peak – which marks the border between Valais and France - on Monday night. She and a friend were heading for a hut to spend the night.
But they got lost and had to be rescued by helicopter on Tuesday morning. The victim died later in hospital due to the effects of hypothermia. Her friend has been discharged.
