Wages increased by more than inflation last year – with women benefitting particularly well.
Figures from the Federal Statistics Office show pay rose by 1.8% - inflation stood at 1.1%, so a real terms rise of 0.7%.
The increase in pay is the first real rise for the last three years.
But the pay rise was not uniform across all sectors.
For industrial workers. Pay was up 1.5%, in services – which includes hospitality - it was up 1.9%.
But the largest rise was in health and social care - their pay was up 3%.
But across the board, women got pay rises. They saw a rise of 2.6% compared to 1.2% for men.
