Police in Canton Vaud say they will step up road checks this spring to tackle noisy and dangerous driving.
Each year, warmer weather brings a rise in revving engines, modified vehicles and unnecessary cruising. Authorities say these behaviours are illegal and will be strictly punished.
Last year alone, more than half of nearly five hundred vehicles inspected were found non-compliant. Under the law, avoidable exhaust noise, including “sport mode”, can now lead to fines of up to CHF 10,000.
