The University of Geneva has broken into the top 50 universities in the world for the first time.
In the annual Shanghai ranking, Geneva moved up 13 places and is now at 49.
The university says much of the improvement is likely down to a researcher winning the prestigious Fields medal in mathematics last year.
This makes Geneva the second best in the country. The ETHZ in Zurich is at 20th.
The top three are all in the United States – Harvard, Stanford and MIT.
