Two men have died after the military truck they were driving plunged 220 meters down the side of a cliff in canton Uri.
The accident happened on the Sustenpass on Saturday. It’s known as one the most challenging roads in the country, with 25 bridges and tunnels.
It’s only open for a few months of the year – normally from June to November. Even during the summer, it’s commonly closed at night.
The police say the truck crashed through a barrier and rolled down a steep hill – turning several times. The men, aged 51 and 57 died at the scene.
An investigation is under way.
