TV chief investigated by Geneva tax office

BFMTV

The head of the French news TV channel BFM is under investigation by Geneva tax authorities as they believe he may be lying about his place of residence.

Officially, Patrick Drahi lives in Zermatt in canton Bern and has secured an attractive package with the canton. But Geneva believes he’s really living in Cologny.

Drahi is thought to be worth around CHF 10bn.

Lawyers for the businessman have created a complicated web of tax affairs, also involving cantons Valais and Vaud.

The investigation has been going on since 2019.

His lawyers responded to media requests through RTS television, saying Mr. Drahi does not comment on his private life and has always paid any tax he is liable for .
