Tough wine sector finds something to celebrate

Vaud winemakers say the 2026 harvest is shaping up to be exceptional, with intense sugar levels producing dense, rich wines

The summer drought has cut volumes but concentrated the flavour, with Chasselas berries weighing around 2.2 grams instead of the usual 3.

The president of the Federation of Vaud Winemakers, called conditions "just perfect" and said the grapes reached the cellars almost blemish-free.

Olivier Mark, who heads the Vaud interprofessional wine body says it gives growers something to celebrate.
