A new video leak has reignited criticism of the “Titlis 3020” project near Engelberg in canton Obwalden.
The aim is to build a new restaurant at the top of the mountain and renovate the radio tower that was first built in the 1980s.
Footage shows heavy machinery digging into the glacier at 3,020m, sparking outrage among locals and environmental groups.
One video, fittingly called “Bye Glacier,” highlights the damage, with critics accusing developers of destroying precious alpine terrain.
Pro Natura and the Swiss Landscape Protection Foundation say the project threatens one of Switzerland’s last untouched glaciers.
