Switzerland's biggest online retailer has wiped 380,000 product reviews after uncovering coordinated fraud.
From now on, only verified purchasers can rate items on Galaxus and its sister site Digitec.
The Migros-owned group says about four per cent of all reviews were affected, including a case where a manufacturer's staff and their friends pumped up scores for an anti-burglary device without buying it.
Bosses say the new rule should protect shoppers from being misled, particularly on newer or niche products where a handful of fake ratings can swing a decision.
Digitec Galaxus posted nearly CHF 3.8 billion in sales last year, up 17 per cent.
