Some Genevans living abroad had trouble casting their votes in last weekend’s ballot.
The canton’s Chancellery confirmed that a handful of voters never received their materials — including several in neighboring France.
The issue appears to stem from a new federal data system meant to sync Swiss citizens abroad with cantonal voting lists.
In rare cases, the update caused inconsistencies, leaving a few names off the register. Authorities say only five people were affected and most were able to vote after all.
An investigation is under way to prevent a repeat.
