A group of small shop owners in Geneva have launched an initiative to end the ban on the sale of alcohol after 9pm.
The ban’s been in place since 2003 after a vote which was passed by a slim majority. The idea was to stop alcohol abuse.
But small corner shops in the canton say it's hit their profitability.
The law seems to be widely breached. Since 2023 there are around 100 reports of illegal sales every year.
