The Paléo Festival has been named Best Major Festival in Europe.
The award was announced last night at the European Festival Awards ceremony in the Netherlands, organised by the festival’s association Yourope.
Reserved for events hosting more than 40,000 people a day, the prize recognises both programming quality and the audience experience.
After a Europe-wide public vote and a professional jury decision, Paléo’s organisers say the award is above all a tribute to its 5,400 volunteers - and a boost ahead of the festival’s 50th anniversary next year.
