Paléo lacks major international star

Paléo 2024

The line-up for this year’s Paleo festival has been unveiled and the focus seems to be on rap – and local commentators are pointing out Switzerland’s largest music festival is lacking a major international star.

The headline act is French rapper Booba. The 47-year-old has a career lasting 30 years and has released critically acclaimed albums. But his appeal is unlikely to spread far from French speaking audiences.

There are international acts, Sam Smith, Mika, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Patti Smith is part of the line up, as is Sean Paul and disco producer Nile Rodgers.

But the local press is pointing out there are no acts like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Depeche Mode or Kiss – bands that have appeared on the stage in the past.
