The Geneva Grand Council has rejected an idea of a police unit to check Geneva residents are driving Geneva registered cars.
The Socialist Party suggests many drivers are registering their cars in cantons with lower tax than Geneva.
They see it as a form of tax evasion.
But the council didn’t see it as a problem and Councillor Serge Dal Busco summed up the majority thinking, by saying he believed it would only have a limited effect.
