Mother of dead girl remains in jail

Pixaday

The mother of the 8-year-old girl who was found dead in a forest near the city of Bern in February has had her detention extended by three months.

The 30-year-old was arrested shortly after the discovery of the girl’s body in Niederwangen.

Judges initially allowed police to keep the woman behind bars for 2 months while investigations continue – but she’ll remain on remand for another 3 months.

The family home remains sealed as a crime scene. Prosecutors are remaining tight lipped on the details of the death.

Police are not releasing any further information.
