A second team of 33 firefighters from French speaking Switzerland will travel to south-western France this weekend to relieve colleagues battling the wildfires.

The convoy leaves Geneva tomorrow evening.

The first Swiss team has been on the ground since 26 July, protecting solar farms, containing flare-ups around Bordeaux and Cap-Ferret, and securing firebreaks alongside French crews.

Some 42,000 hectares have burned and six fires remain active, though 84,000 residents have now been allowed home.
