Military investigators have opened proceedings against several Swiss nationals who are accused of joining in the Ukraine war.
It’s illegal for a Swiss national to fight for a foreign power.
There have already been convictions. Before the Russian invasion, a man from Ticino was fined for joining pro-Russia forces in the Donetsk region.
Seven people are being investigated – but legal experts say it could be difficult to secure a conviction as those accused have the right to be heard in court – which will be impossible unless they return to Switzerland.
