In case of power shortage - social networks would be cut

If electricity runs out – social media networks will be the first things to be cut.

Under a plan being drawn up by the Confederation, one of the first steps in the case of a power shortage would be to cut traffic to highly used websites – which will be social media sites, video streamers and music sites.

That would be the first step.

If that’s not enough then mobile phone services could be cut.

One of the last data systems to be closed would be payment terminals.

Experts say without those measures, then it may mean load shedding which would cause widespread disruption anyway.
