Hopes for open-air activities this year

With the likely lifting of the rules next week – those who are looking ahead are now gearing up for the return of the open-air festivities.

It’ll start soon as Fasnacht season approaches.

The Basel Morgestraich will be back next month after a two-year break – although it will be a bit different, the main marches won’t be happening.

Other large spring festivals across the country are now also gearing up again. As they’ll be a few weeks later than Basel, organisers in Zurich and Lucerne hope their marches will be happening.

Victor Rosser from the Zurich organising committee says they’re planning a normal event, especially with the exploding snowman – the Böögg – which had to move cantons last year and explode with only a TV audience.

Looking ahead to the summer – the music festivals are optimistic they can return in full, such as the Openairs in Gampel, Sankt Gallen, Frauenfeld and Paleo.

The Zurich Street parade will go ahead in August, according to organisers. It’s been cancelled for the last 2 years and will be back on August 13th.
