Green party says axe the half price rail card

The Green Party says the half price fare card for the trains should be abolished and all prices should be set at the current half price level.

They also say the collection of tickets from full-fare to supersavers should also go – and have one price for all.

The Zurich National Councillor for the Green Party, Marionna Schlatte, says the move will shift the costs. She says driving is getting cheaper and public transport more expensive.

She also says it will be a bargain compared to the roads project. Public transport will lose CHF 700m a year from the half price card and lower bus fares. The cost of the autoroute widening was CHF 5bn.
