The number of people living in the Grand Genève region has now passed a million officially.
The figures from the Geneva Cantonal Statistics office say that in January 2021, there were 1,009,000 in the area.
Half of those live in canton Geneva, 40% are in the French Genevois and 10% in Vaud.
The biggest growing regions are in neighbouring France, Chevrier in Haute-Savoie and Chevry in the Pays de Gex.
In Geneva, Soral and Puplinge also showed strong growth and in Vaud many new arrivals ended up in Vich and Gilly.
