Genevans took to the lakeside over the weekend

Although thousands of Geneva residents enjoyed the warmer weather over the weekend by taking a stroll along the lakeside – police say many were in small groups, maintained a distance.

To try to limit the number of people, car parking spaces had been closed from Versoix to Cologny.

But authorities say there was little for them to do as on the whole people acted responsibly.

But police did have to break up some parties with young people over the weekend. There were groups in Meyrin, Versoix, Chene-Bourg and Carouge.

Some officers say they were attacked with fireworks and met with aggressive behaviour.
