Swiss Television reports that there are 2,500 inspections a year – and around 10 show such serious violations that means the business is immediately shut down.
The cantonal chemist, Patrick Edder, says the problem has got worse since the pandemic.
One business owner told the press that its due to improperly trained staff.
An online training programme is now being planned.
