A French policed officer has shot dead a man suspected of trying to steal motorcycles in the village of Bossey at the foot of the Salève near the Swiss border.
The officer opened fire at around 4am yesterday.
Police were called by a private security guard who suspected a group were trying to steal bikes. The officer opened fire when the vehicle tried to escape.
Another man has been arrested.
Two investigations have been opened – against the suspects and also into the actions of the officer.
