Foreign Minister escorted out of conference

Federal Councilor Ignazio Cassis was escorted out of a conference in Bellinzona Friday evening after pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside.

Security evacuated the Foreign Minister amid jeers, as the event ended an hour and a half later than planned.

Around 200 demonstrators had assembled earlier in the day, accusing the Swiss government of failing to act against the war in Gaza.

Outside, protesters pressed for stronger action. The incident highlights growing domestic pressure on the Federal Council over Switzerland’s stance on the conflict.
