A democratic crisis is deepening in the Geneva commune of Vernier.
The municipal elections - already declared void in March due to fraud - may once again be thrown out.
The Geneva State Council says it cannot ratify yesterday’s “catch-up” vote after spotting more than 200 suspect ballots, about 3% of the total.
Handwriting on multiple ballots appears to come from the same person, echoing the fraud that invalidated the previous election.
Experts have been called in, with conclusions expected in two weeks.
Four criminal complaints have already been filed, and officials warn that if the irregularities are confirmed, another annulment is likely.
