The demise of FM radio continues in Switzerland.
From the beginning of the year all Swiss Broadcasting Corporation radio stations switched off their FM transmitters – programmes are available on DAB and online.
Although private stations have been given a reprieve until the end of next year – their coverage is already disappearing in tunnels.
The Federal Roads Office says FM relays in tunnels are now being dismantled – which affects all FM stations.
All tunnels are now equipped with DAB signals.
The broadcast regulator Ofcom, say most radio listeners now use digital channels, only 10% listen to FM – mainly in the car.
All FM transmitters have to close at the end of 2026.
