Federal govt struggles to get cantons to agree to new Covid rules

The Federal Council is having problems getting the cantons to agree to stricter Covid measures.

Earlier this week the 7-member government outlined a series of proposals to stem the rate of infection.

They included regular testing in schools, working from home and only sitting in bar.

But the cantons can’t agree. Some agree with some of the ideas - but the others don’t. A consensus seems unlikely.

The only things the cantons do seem to agree on is more mask wearing.
