International Geneva is preparing for a wave of cost cutting measures after the US president Donald Trump pulled out of the WHO, the Paris Climate Agreement and has suspended international aid for 90 days as the US government reflects on if it offers value for money.
The WHO has already announced a hiring freeze and is slashing the travel budget after the US decision.
But it’s not just the US, other historically big donors have already announced cuts to international aid, such as France and Germany.
Aid agencies say the cuts will be devastating for many poor countries – especially as climate change is expected to increase the need for emergency aid.
