Formula 1 driver, Fernando Alonso has been admitted to a hospital in Lugano after a bicycle accident.
His team, Alpine Racing, says the 39-year-old Spanish driver was involved in a traffic accident. He’s said to be conscious, but is suffering a broken jaw.
Press reports suggest Alonso will be transferred to Bern for further checks later today.
Preparations for the new F1 season are well underway ahead of the first race in Bahrain due on the 28th March. Testing will start on the 12th.
